Contrary to what some might assume, I have never harbored any ambition to hold political office in Portugal. I am not driven by personal interest, nor do I seek attention or recognition. I speak solely as a free man, moved by a deep and abiding love for my country. My only desire is to see our beloved Nation attain the moral, social, and economic greatness it so justly deserves, with strong institutions, honest leadership, and a people respected both at home and abroad.
Portugal has suffered through decades of poor governance, marked by empty promises, erratic policies, and decisions made without regard for the national interest. Justice has become slow and unequal, education has lost both its rigor and identity, healthcare is in disarray, and our young people, without prospects, are driven to emigrate, not by choice, but by despair. The middle class, the true backbone of any healthy society, is being crushed under a suffocating tax burden, while merit is routinely replaced by favoritism and political cronyism.
Sadly, this state of affairs will remain unchanged as long as the same political parties, entrenched in power for more than half a century, continue to lead the Nation with the same spirit of stagnation, self-interest, and nepotism.
Portugal is in desperate need of deep renewal, one founded upon truth, justice, and selfless public service. These are the very principles that once shaped the greatest chapters of our national history. This renewal demands the courage to break with fifty years of entrenched political networks that have smothered merit, discredited public life, and impoverished the country in every sense.
Part of this national renewal must include a responsible and lawful immigration policy, one that upholds our national sovereignty, preserves our cultural identity, and responds sensibly to the country’s actual needs. Open borders without discernment, clear criteria, or strategic purpose endanger social cohesion and threaten the future of the generations yet to come.
These words are not born of bitterness or pride. I write them out of a sense of duty and an unwavering love for Portugal, a love instilled in me from an early age through the values of family, honor, hard work, and faith. I am not motivated by hidden agendas. I do not seek office or the spotlight. I am simply a son of this land who refuses to stand by while his country is treated with indifference by those who ought to serve it with dignity.
The time has come to break with the errors of the past and chart a new course for Portugal, one that restores dignity to public life, hope to its people, and honor to the name of our Nation.
Awakening Portugal begins with each and every one of us. Let no one remain silent when love for the Fatherland is at stake.
